New TracVision provides vessels satellite TV

MIDDLETOWN – KVH Industries Inc. has introduced a new antenna system enabling yachts and merchant ships seas around the world to receive satellite television programming, including high definition.

According to KVH, the TracVision TV8 maritime satellite TV antenna system is compatible with nearly all Ku-band services around the globe, and supports DirecTV, Dish Network and Dish HD, and Bell TV in North America, and TrueVisions, Astro and Sky TV in the Asia-Pacific region.
It represents the latest technology in maritime satellite television, KVH said.
Described by KVH as “powerful, yet compact,” the 32-inch diameter TracVision TV8 allows yacht owners to watch their favorite satellite telvision programming while on the water; the system also makes it possible for commercial maritime operators to ensure their crew has access to recreational entertainment services recommended by international regulations such as the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006, a press release from KVH stated.

“The TracVision TV8 has the top engineering characteristics our antenna systems are known for around the world,” Martin Kits van Heyningen, KVH’s CEO, said in a statement. “With its advanced tracking and extended coverage area, it is an ideal system for a superyacht in the Mediterranean, a tanker ship in the Baltic, or any number of ships on the world’s oceans. These rugged systems are fully stabilized and stay locked on the satellite even in heavy seas.”

KVH’s TracVision satellite antenna systems currently are used on container ships, tankers, commercial fishing vessels, government patrol boats, cruising sailboats and luxury yachts.
