PROVIDENCE – Butler Hospital is opening up a new patient care center to meet the growing need for acute psychiatric care in Rhode Island. The new 48,000-square-foot center will expand the hospital’s patient assessment services, including a new secured waiting area that offers privacy for highly acute patients and their families. The center also increases Butler’s capacity with the addition of a 26-bed adult inpatient care unit.
The center cost $17 million to construct. Guided tours of the new facility are available Sept. 25, when a dedication ceremony will be held.
