Newport Storm creates IPA to raise awareness of Lou Gehrig’s disease

NEWPORT – One of Newport Storm Brewery’s latest releases is a barrel-aged double IPA to raise awareness of Lou Gehrig’s disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which struck former Newport Storm employee Bobby Forster in December 2014.

The idea for the beer, foRIster, came from Derek Luke, brewmaster, who designed the beverage in the style of Forster’s favorite, an India pale ale.

“From raw material selection, label design to the final bottling day, Bobby’s imprint is pronounced on this brew. So cheers to a barrel-aged DIPA brewed solely to raise awareness for ALS and to celebrate this amazing man,” said Luke.

foRIster can be purchased in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania and part of the proceeds will go to funding ALS research and Forster. For more information, visit: acureforforster.com.
