NEWPORT – Ocean Lawn, a grand estate overlooking Cliff Walk and the Atlantic Ocean, sold on Jan. 27 for $11.65 million, according to an announcement from the listing broker, Lila Delman Real Estate International.

It was built during the Gilded Age and at one time was owned by the Firestone family, founders of the rubber tire company that began with tires for horse-drawn carriages, which grew exponentially with the growth of the automotive industry.

Listed in March 2016 for $18.5 million, it was sold to Alexis DeJoria and her father, John Paul DeJoria, according to the Lila Delman news release. Alexis DeJoria is a professional drag racer. John Paul DeJoria is the billionaire co-founder of Paul Mitchell hair product line.

“My father and I are interested in this property so all our family can enjoy it,” Alexis DeJoria said, in a released statement. “We appreciate the estate’s rich history and plan on retaining its Gilded Age grandeur.”
