NEWPORT – Returning for its 11th year, Newport Restaurant Week will take place from Nov. 4-13, and feature the culinary creations of more than 50 Newport and Bristol County-based restaurants, cafes and bistros.

The 2016 season will see the premiere of Discover Newport’s “Behind the Apron,” a behind-the-scenes perspective of leading talent at top regional restaurants. Episodes of the series can be viewed on DiscoverNewportRestaurantWeek.org as well as the organization’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“This is truly an exciting time for the culinary industry,” Evan Smith, Discover Newport president and CEO, said about the increased interest nationwide in eating locally-grown foods.

“[Newport] offers an enticing and diverse culinary landscape from farm-to-table to casual eateries to trendy hotspots. In addition, our destination is home to extraordinary food and wine events where residents celebrate local fare and visitors get to experience our destination through their palate,” he said.

Throughout the 10-day event, cafes, restaurants and bistros in Newport and Bristol counties will feature prix-set priced menus charging $16 for three-course lunches and $35 for three-course dinners.

Menus and a schedule of food- and wine-related events can be found on DiscoverNewportRestaurantWeek.org. During the event, more up-to-date information will be available on Discover Newport’s social media accounts and those interested can follow the celebration using #NPTRestaurantWeek.

The first Newport Restaurant Week, which took place in 2006, was held in an effort to encourage visitors as well as locals to visit Newport and Bristol County restaurants. Discover Newport made the event bi-annual in 2008, adding a spring event to the existing fall celebration. Newport Restaurant Week is presented by Discover Newport and sponsored by Kenwood Vineyards, OpenTable, Rhode Island Seafood and Stella Artois.
