Next generation in fire safety

Following a 22-week training program, 54 men and women graduate on Jan. 3 from the 50th Providence Fire Department Training Academy. Graduates were sworn in as members of the department during the ceremony, held at Rhode Island College. For the first time in the department’s history a female candidate, 28-year-old Alison Philbrick, ranked No. 1 in the class.
