Nominations sought for Supply Chain awards

SMITHFIELD – The Supply Chain Management Summit Planning Committee is seeking nominations for several awards recognizing the contributions of supply chain management professionals.

The awards, which recognize the industry’s best and raise the profile of the supply chain industry as a whole, include the Supply Chain/Logistics Leader of the Year Award, the Emerging Young Professional Leader Award, the Corporate Supply Chain of the Year Award and the Diamond Award for Industry Excellence in Supply Chain Education.

Awardees will be nominated by industry peers and are then narrowed down to a final list of candidates based on award criteria.

“Part of elevating awareness and advancing the importance supply chain management plays in the overall success of business in the nation and this region comes from recognizing the efforts and achievements of professionals in the industry,” said Cheryl W. Snead, founder, president and CEO of Banneker Industries in North Smithfield, and from whose vision the Supply Chain Management Summit was created eight years ago. “We are asking their peers in the supply chain world to nominate professionals for four awards that we will present at the Supply Chain Management Summit on Aug. 20.”

The summit will be held at Bryant University.

Nominators should demonstrate that the person they are nominating deserves to be recognized and provide supporting evidence in their nomination email to the Supply Chain Management Summit Planning Committee. Self nominations are welcome and accepted. The deadline for completed nomination forms for candidates is Aug. 1.

The awards with their criteria are as follows:

Supply Chain/Logistics Leader of the Year Award

  • This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated superior commitment, innovative strategic leadership and significant supply chain management/logistics contributions within the industry and/or organization. This award is meant to showcase the talents of those professionals driving change in the industry.
  • Nominees for this award should be an active member in a professional supply chain, logistics or related organization (i.e. Institute of Supply Management, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, Warehouse Education Research Council, APICS, International Warehouse Logistics Association, etc.); an innovator of new techniques, approaches or processes related to supply chain management and/or logistics; a leader that drives a team or a company towards continual improvement within the supply chain and supports their team’s innovative ideas; and an individual that takes a collaborative approach to work with supply chain partners and peers.

Emerging Young Professional Leader Award

  • This award recognizes up-and-coming leaders in the supply chain management/logistics field for their early and practical contributions to the industry. Nominees should be recognized as a rising star with proven contributions to the discipline of supply chain management/logistics and one who possesses significant potential future impact to the field.
  • Criteria for the award include: an individual who is age 30 or under at the time of nomination deadline; an active member in a professional supply chain, logistics or related organization; an individual who has a proven track record in leading teams and has been recognized by their peers as a role model for other aspiring supply chain professionals; an individual who has contributed in areas beyond their “normal job” to enhance awareness and understanding of the profession; and an individual that has great potential to impact the industry by developing new capabilities and being a thought leader who stands out among their peers.

Corporate Supply Chain of the Year Award

  • The Corporate Supply Chain of the Year Award is presented to an organization that has used innovative supply chain management and logistics practices to advance their business and deliver a positive impact to their customers. This award recognizes organizations that best exemplify the ideal for today’s supply chain and serve as role models which can help other companies move closer to their supply chain goals.
  • Nominees should be a for-profit or not-for-profit organization, and a company whose primary business activities are directly related to the supply chain management/logistics field or can be a department, business unit or functional group within a company whose primary purpose is related to supply chain management/logistics for their company. The organization should demonstrate that they have a robust supply chain team collaborative in their approach to supply chain partnerships and has a voice in the company’s strategy and direction that are aligned with the organizational goals; and the nominee should have produced measurable gains in ROI, whether in warehouse, transportation, procurement sourcing or any other category in the end-to-end supply chain.

Diamond Award for Industry Excellence in Supply Chain Education

  • The Diamond Award recognizes an organization that demonstrates superior commitment to supply chain education.
  • Nominees for this award should be a for-profit or not-for-profit organization; an organization who promotes supply chain education within and outside of their organization; an organization that delivers supply chain educational programs directed at employees, students and/or other companies; an organization who proactively engages with students at their university campus (i.e. participating in career fairs) and/or at their organizations (i.e. hosting student tours); and an organization whose leadership has demonstrated a commitment to recruiting students for supply chain internships and training opportunities.

Award recipients will receive one complimentary registration to the 2015 Supply Chain Management Summit, recognition at the 2015 SCMS in front of an audience of 250-plus attendees, and a spotlight in SCMS marketing materials including promotional videos, emails, website and other collateral.
