LINCOLN – The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce for the third year in a row has received recognition for being a “small business champion.”
The designation is given by The American Express Co. and is meant to highlight the chamber’s participation in this year’s Small Business Saturday, which is slated for Nov. 28, according to a press release.
American Express organized the first Small Business Saturday in 2010 to encourage holiday gift-seekers to shop at local businesses, and continues that effort each year. The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is joining the cause, encouraging shoppers in northern Rhode Island to visit local merchants and will “distribute marketing promotional items to merchants and plan local events to promote the day,” according to the release.
Small business retailers interested in participating in Small Business Saturday are urged to contact the chamber at 334-1000 ext. 117.
