PROVIDENCE – For this month’s meetup, the Providence Geeks will host LocusPlay, an alumnus of the Betaspring startup accelerator that has tripled its business in the six months since graduating from the program.
The Providence-based startup provides a secure platform for small and mid-size lottery operators to transform their traditional, paper-based lotteries into modern mobile- or cloud-based lotteries. To date, LocusPlay has done business with lotteries in the Caribbean and Africa and plans to expand into Asia.
CEO Rahul Rajguru and Chief Marketing Officer Chirag Bodar relocated the company headquarters to Providence from Bangalore after participating in Betaspring’s winter 2013 session, which ended in May. Rajguru told Providence Business News that they were attracted to Providence by the connections Betaspring could offer, and the fact that the city was home to gaming-services and technology giant GTECH Corp.

The November meetup will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the AS200 in Providence. The event is free, but attendees buy their own food and drink.
