NORTH KINGSTOWN – During the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Rhode Island’s 2016 National Philanthropy Day Breakfast and Awards Ceremony in mid-November, Ocean State Job Lot was named Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation.
Founding partners Steve Aronow, Alan Perlman and Marc Perlman received the award at the event, which was hosted at the Twin River Event Center.
Headquartered in North Kingstown, the closeout discount retailer, founded in 1977, operates 123 stores in eight states. Ocean State Job Lot has a long history of philanthropic leadership, funding, in-kind support and volunteerism, including its annual “Three Square Meals” program, which provides millions of pounds of nonperishable food to the R.I. Community Food Bank and other local food banks in communities where the company operates stores. Ocean State Job Lot and its charitable foundation also supports medical and educational institutions, disaster relief efforts, the performing arts, military service men and women, and special needs and foster children.
