PROVIDENCE – AAA Northeast last week recognized 10 Rhode Island hotels and one Seekonk hotel with its highest ratings for quality and service.

The nonprofit auto club awarded the 11 establishments with either a Five Diamonds or Four Diamonds rating, which is based on a system of one to five. This year’s list of Five Diamonds hotels included Ocean House in Watch Hill, which has received the honor every year since 2011. The AAA highest rating was received by 118, or 0.4 percent, of the 28,000 establishments that were rated in the last year.

Nearly 6 percent of the 28,000 rated establishments received Four Diamonds, including the following, listed by town:

  • Bristol: Point Pleasant Inn & Resort (first honored in 2003)
  • Newport: Cliffside Inn (2003)
    Hydrangea House Inn (2005)
The Chanler at Cliff Walk (2004)
    The Vanderbilt Grace (2011)

  • Providence: Hotel Providence (2005)
    Omni Providence Hotel (2003)
    Renaissance Providence (2008)

  • Westerly: The Weekapaug Inn (2013)
  • Seekonk: Historic Jacob Hill Inn (2001)

AAA Northeast will fete the highest rated hotels at a luncheon in March at the Ocean House.
