Olney Village gets Charles L. Edson award

PROVIDENCE – Olney Village Apartments, an $11 million mixed-use development in the Olneyville neighborhood, has received an honorable mention in the Metropolitan/Urban category at the 21st annual Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards in Washington, which presents awards to the most outstanding low-income housing tax credit properties in the U.S.
Developer and sponsor ONE Neighborhood Builders, formerly known as the Olneyville Housing Corp., revitalized 16 lots and distressed buildings near D’Abate Elementary School, creating Olney Village.
The development includes 40 residences arranged in one- to four-bedroom apartments, which are leased to low-income families. ONE Neighborhood Builders had worked with Rhode Island Housing to acquire foreclosed and blighted properties in the area, and obtained financing from Rhode Island Housing as well as federal and state sources.
