On the Table Lecture -- Indigenous Foodways: Sovereignty, Appropriation and Continuation, a lecture with Loren Spears of the Tomaquag Museum

Providence Public Library presents “Indigenous Foodways: Sovereignty, Appropriation and Continuation,” a lecture with Loren Spears Executive Director of the Tomaquag Museum. The program is free and open as part of the Library’s On the Table program series from March through June.

Complementing the On the Table Exhibit case featuring items on loan from the Tomaquag Museum, Lorén Spears will share her thoughts on Indigenous Foodways. With her lens as a Narragansett, Lorén will speak of traditional food gathering in comparison with post-European contact adaptations, featuring the historic “Dovecrest Restaurant” and the impact of food and foodways on culture.
