Jessica Bickoff has held jobs in several different industries, including quality improvement, estate planning and travel. And though the businesses might have varied, the jobs have all shared a common theme – a connection to and enjoyment of working with people and helping them to be successful.

Six years ago, Bickoff accepted a temporary role as a human resources assistant at Textron Inc., the Providence-based multiindustry company with a global network of defense, aircraft, industrial and finance offerings.

Within a year, she was a full-time human resources representative. And over the past several years Bickoff has held HR roles of increasing scope and responsibility.

“This field fit well with what I am interested in and the things I am good at,” Bickoff said. “I still have a long way to go professionally. The human resources field is very broad, and I am excited about the experiences I’ll continue to collect.”

After managing the finance function for Textron’s Leadership Development Program, Bickoff moved into her current role as its senior manager. The role blends challenging work experiences with multiindustry movement, mentoring and training for about 250 early-career professionals.

“Our goal is to accelerate the development … to create high-quality talent to fill key roles in the organization,” said Bickoff.

She oversees a team of six program managers and specialists who execute the acquisition, on-boarding, training, coaching, performance feedback and eventual placement of program participants.

Jackie Sweeney, director of leadership & organizational development, says Bickoff demonstrates leadership attributes well beyond her years of experience.

“Jessica was offered the opportunity to take the senior role overseeing the entire Leadership Development Program function … something she stepped into without hesitation,” Sweeney said. “She … managed a difficult transition from peer to leader with no residual effect to team performance.”

“She has initiative and drive that make her a Woman to Watch not only in Textron but in the scope of women in leadership roles in any organization,” Sweeney added. •
