Overdose task force meets for first time

PROVIDENCE – Gov. Gina M. Raimondo’s Overdose Prevention and Intervention Task Force met for the first time last month to begin work on a statewide strategy to prevent and treat drug addiction and reverse the rising tide of overdose deaths in Rhode Island.

Raimondo created the task force in August as part of her efforts to address Rhode Island’s addiction and overdose crisis. The task force will hold public meetings monthly.

The task force is co-chaired by Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, director of the R.I. Department of Health, and Maria Montanaro, director of the R.I. Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals.
