Providence Business News was named a winner in The New England Press Association’s 2006 Better Newspaper Contest for consistent accomplishment in the “demanding and exacting craft” of headline writing.

Of the PBN, which was No. 1 in the Weekly 2 division, contest judges said:
“Precision matters in all headlines, but imprecision in a business-related headline can lead to serious and complicated consequences.

“The headline writers at the Providence Business News write with clarity and a refreshing crispness. The headlines in this paper don’t have to be read twice to understand them. … They offer a little flair at the right time.”

Other local publications also took home top honors in the yearly contest.
