Providence College, Salve Regina University and Stonehill College are among the 75 best Catholic colleges and universitiesin the country.
College Choice, a website that focuses on higher education options, published its annual list of the best Catholic colleges this week.

The University of Notre Dame ranked first on the list, while Providence College ranked 13th and Salve Regina, in Newport, was 67th. Stonehill College, in Easton, Mass., was 73rd.
It said this about Providence College: “The Catholic and Dominican identity aspects of campus play a big role on the college itself. Friars are a big part of life at Providence College, and St. Dominic’s Chapel sits in the heart of campus. But the school honors the Dominican identity in other ways – by opening its doors to students of all faiths, by teaching faith and education side-by-side, and by the majority of the student body that volunteer through campus ministry services every year.”
Salve Regina, it wrote, “is best known for its wide variety of international programs.” It said its global studies program has a study-abroad requirement, and that the graduate program in international relations grants a degree that can be partially completed online and ranks as one of the best international-relations graduate programs available in the country.
Stonehill, it said, was founded as a sister school to the University of Notre Dame.
“Stonehill College was built on the ideas set forth by the Holy Cross tradition – that each person has and deserves dignity, and that critical thinking and free inquiry, when combined with respect for each other, will build a world dedicated to God’s word and service to others,” the website stated.
