PROVIDENCE – Providence College’s School of Business MBA program ranked among the best part-time MBA programs in the country in 2015, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. PC’s program ranked 67th out of 74 listed.

Providence College’s MBA program also ranked 67th in the alumni survey and 61st in the student survey. This was the first year the program was included in the list.
“There are hundreds of part-time MBA programs,” PCSB Dean Sylvia Maxfield said in a statement. “We are thrilled that Bloomberg Businessweek has included us among the top 74 part-time programs in the country.”

Coming in first was Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, where alumni ranked it ninth, and students, second.
The magazine, on its website, explained that part-time MBA programs are different from traditional two-year MBA programs because students often require flexibility, and want to use their degree to advance their career within a company. The magazine said these students tend to be older than full-timers, and more than half return to their pre-MBA day job, compared with one in 10 full-time graduates.
The rankings were composed of 50 percent student survey score and 50 percent alumni survey score. Each school’s ranking index score was calculated by dividing its weighted sum by the best school’s weighted sum and then multiplying by 100, Bloomberg BusinessWeek said.

The full-time MBA program was topped by Harvard University, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology coming in at No. 4. Other New England schools in the top 74 were: Yale University (No. 11), Dartmouth College (No. 14), Boston University (No. 48), Babson College (No. 56) and Northeastern University (No. 61).
Other New England schools on the part-time programs list were: Babson (No. 31), BU (No. 37), Worcester Polytechnic Institute (No. 40), Northeastern (No. 63) and Sacred Heart University (No. 70).
