The Thayer Street pizzeria, which also offers regular and gluten-free pizzas, placed ninth on a list of the Top 10 vegan pizzas in the country for its fig, arugula and vegan cheese pizza by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.
PETA announced the list in time for National Pizza Pie Day on Monday. Nice Slice received a letter of congratulations, and a certificate from PETA.
“Loaded with cruelty-free flavor and fresh, delicious ingredients, the Figgy Stardust was a shoo-in for our top 10 list,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a statement. “With so many tasty vegan options widely available, PETA is calling on caring people everywhere to kick dairy products to the curb in favor of a scrumptious slice of vegan pizza.”

PETA’s website states “Rhode Island may be the smallest U.S. state, but this Providence eatery proves that size doesn’t matter when it comes to taste.” The organization calls it a “refreshing, warm and fruity pizza.”
The Red Beans and Rice Pizza by New Orleans’ Mid City Pizza won first place, while The Works at 3 Brothers Pizza Cafe on Long Island, N.Y., came in second. Third place went to Sweet Potato of Mine from Silly’s Restaurant in Portland, Maine. The rest of the top 10 can be found HERE.
