PROVIDENCE – PVD Lady Project is celebrating its Second Birthday Bash on Feb. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gracie’s, 194 Washington Street, Providence.
Co-founded in 2011 by Sierra Barter, one of Providence Monthly’s “10 To Watch in 2014,” and Julie Sygiel, the Lady Project is a collective of women who come together to connect, inspire and showcase women “doing awesome things, through events, membership and community engagement,” organizers say. The organization has just filed for nonprofit status.
Its first chapter, PVD Lady Project, launched in early 2012 and currently has over 250 members in the Rhode Island area. There are also chapters in New Haven, Conn., and Boston. Lady Project events and memberships are open to females or female-identifying.
Participants of Monday’s event will be a part of a special “mentors and members” speed networking session, an exclusive Instagram wall (#HBLadyProject), and enjoy a special PVD Lady Project cocktail handcrafted by Gracie’s for the occasion, heavy appetizers and fresh macaroons. They also will receive a birthday goodie bag full of treats from Lady Project members, supporters and friends.
The Birthday Bashlineup features: Amy Diaz, winner of The Amazing Race; Suzy Alba, Smithfield Town Council member; and adjunct professor at Rhode Island College Ellen Slattery, proprietor of Gracie’s Venture.
Tickets are $35 (including complimentary valet parking and coat check), and can be purchased online at www.pvdladyproject217.eventbrite.com, or at the door. The event is limited to 100 people. Participants are encouraged to add a $5 donation to Girl Scouts of Rhode Island, whose mission is to provide girls in kindergarten through grade 12 with a wide variety of leadership opportunities.
Gentlemen friends and supporters of the PVD Lady Project and its members are invited to the Second Birthday Bash AFTER PARTY the same day, from 8 to 10 p.m. at Gracie’s.
