PROVIDENCE – Providence is one of the nation’s 10 greatest coffee cities and one of the places where you can find a great hot dog, according to recent press reports.
The Providence-Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau said the Ocean State – specifically Providence – has been highlighted 13 times from June 23 to July 8 in various media including newspapers, websites and trade publications.
“Providence on fire this summer in the media,” reads the announcement from the PWCVB.
Here are some of the mentions:
- From the website Thrillist: Providence ranks as the third greatest coffee city in the nation, after only Portland, Ore., and Seattle. Thrillist repeated the information from an earlier Travel + Leisure piece, which specifically cited Dave’s Coffee and Bolt Coffee Co. for having great coffee.
- USAToday.com: Olneyville New York System’s hot wieners were highlighted in an article about the best places to find hot dogs and hamburgers in America for Independence Day. “House rules dictate you never, ever call them hot dogs,” the article states.
- Budgettravel.com: Providence was included in a list of Fourth of July getaways that every American should take, noting the fireworks celebration at India Point Park and its history as the birthplace of George M. Cohan, composer of “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”
- The city also earned mentions in Town & Country, which published a travel guide to it; Honest Cooking, which wrote about eating well in Providence; Family Vacation Critic, which wrote about Waterfire for families and where to stay in the city with kids; and Off Metro NY, which noted six places to eat and drink in Providence this summer.
