Paratronix sold to MicroChem

ATTLEBORO – Paratronix Inc. has been sold to MicroChem Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Kayaku Co. Ltd. of Japan.

The sale price was undisclosed.

Paratronix, established in 1981, employs 21; it is a leading supplier of Parylene conformal coating services and also is a manufacturer of Parylene coating manufacturing equipment.

MicroChem develops, manufactures and distributes specialty chemicals including photoresists, optical dyes and ancillary materials for the microelectronic, display and optoelectronic markets. The company, founded in 1992, employs 65.

According to a news release, the acquisition is part of MicroChem’s strategic growth plan to pursue business and technology opportunities that fit its core business activities.

MicroChem will move Paratronix’s operations to its Westborough, Mass., headquarters over time.

The Nery Corp., of New Bedford, represented Paratronix Inc. in the sale.
