WARWICK – City, state and Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce officials Wednesday announced a new partnership to market the Warwick Station Development District near T.F. Green Airport as a hub for business growth and economic development.

The new joint effort, which includes the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and the Department of Transportation, as well as the city and Chamber, will seek federal funding to promote Warwick Station, a news release said.

No funding commitments by any of the partners have been made to support the project.

The Warwick City Council recently approved a master plan for the Warwick Station Development District, which envisions 1.5-million-square feet of mixed use development in the area surrounding the new Interlink station at T.F. Green.

“The City is now working cooperatively with the EDC, R.I. DOT and the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce to obtain federal funding for a comprehensive marketing and outreach plan that will directly target major real estate developers/brokers and company site selectors to promote the benefits of relocation or expansion to the district – improving the economic vitality and job growth in the city and the entire state,” said Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian in a news release.

Along with the new partnership, officials also announced the opening of a new interactive communications board near the car rental area in the connector between the airport and Interlink.
