Passenger traffic at T.F. Green rises nearly 4% in January

WARWICK – Passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport rose 3.9 percent in January, to 253,488, which is 9,594 more passengers than last January, the R.I. Airport Corporation reported Thursday.
Among the five major airlines, Delta Airlines had the greatest year-over-year increase in passengers, at 10.2 percent, to 28,746 from 26,078. And, American Airlines reported the greatest decline at 3.7 percent, to 57,239 from 59,423.
Southwest Airlines, which holds the largest market share at the airport at 48 percent, also reported an increase in passengers. Southwest saw its passenger count rise 7.5 percent, to 122,632 in January from 114,033 in January 2015.
JetBlue and United Airlines each reported year-over-year declines, at 3.6 percent and 2 percent, respectively. JetBlue’s traffic fell to 22,861 from 23,718 and United’s tumbled to 17,978 from 18,348, the airport said.
After Southwest, American held the next-largest market share in January at 22.6 percent, followed by Delta at 11.3 percent; JetBlue, 9 percent; and United, 7.1 percent.
