WARWICK – Passenger traffic increased in September at T.F. Green Airport by 1.1 percent to 300,284 from 297,077 during the same month a year ago.

The upward pattern reversed two consecutive months of year-over-year declines.
However, the R.I. Airport Corp. said this week that passenger traffic through the first nine months of the year declined 0.95 percent to 2,665,073 from 2,690,697.

Among the major carriers, Southwest Airlines again held the largest market share in September at 43.3 percent, with 130,099 passengers, and also experienced the greatest increase in passengers year over year with an additional 3,837, a 3 percent increase.

American Airlines, with a 25.3 percent market share, had 76,044 passengers in September. The former U.S. Airways had the largest percentage increase at 3.6 percent.

Delta Airlines, with a 12.7 percent market share, had 38,067 passengers, a year over year decrease of 10.1 percent, the largest among the major airlines. United Airlines, with its 10 percent market share, had 30,178 passengers, a 2.6 percent decrease.

JetBlue Airways had 19,677 passengers, a 1.5 percent dip. It held 6.6 percent of the market share.
Cabo Verde Airlines had 2,182 passengers in September, its fourth month of operation. Since June, 11,543 passengers have flown on the airline to Cape Verde. It had a 25 percent decline in passengers from August, when it reported 2,910 passengers.
Condor Airlines, which also launched service from T.F. Green in June, had 432 passengers in September and 9,622 passengers year to date. Condor flies to Frankfurt. The airline experienced an 89 percent decline in passengers from August, when it had 3,924 passengers. The reason for the decline is that Condor offers seasonal service – it ran only from June 18 to Sept. 3, meaning it had only one flight at T.F. Green in September, according to an airport spokeswoman.
Cargo in September decreased 0.6 percent to 19,459,260 lbs. from 19,575,959 lbs. in September 2014.
