Paul M. Kessimian

Age: 33

Why did you select your profession?
I have wanted to be a lawyer since I was 12 years old. … I was drawn to solving problems through reasoning and persuasion. When I was in sixth grade and some of us had issues with the way our bus driver was treating us, I set up a “law firm” and drafted a list of complaints [that eventually led] to a mutually acceptable “settlement.”

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
As a successful partner at my law firm with the knowledge and experience to mentor and prepare new attorneys so that they are successful.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?
Do something you love doing.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?
Take time to enjoy the little moments in life.

What is your favorite escape or hobby?
Playing outdoors with my kids.

What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?
I would have begun involving myself with community organizations earlier in my career. [They are] not only professionally rewarding, but personally as well. •
