BOSTON – Part of the Red Sox ownership group will purchase the Pawtucket Red Sox, according to a Boston Globe report.
The newspaper said a sale price is not yet known, nor are the names of the owners purchasing the minor league franchise.
PawSox President Mike Tamburro and Vice President and General Manager Lou Schwechheimer have been running the PawSox, which has been owned for years by the Mondor family.

In a statement released today the PawSox said, “it’s too premature for us to comment on this.”

Representatives from the Boston Red Sox could not be immediately reached for comment about the sale.
The PawSox have been at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket since 1970; the team became Boston’s Triple A affiliate in 1977. The stadium can seat approximately 10,000 fans.
