SCHWARTZ CENTER WALKATHON

The Schwartz Center for Children will host its 24th annual walkathon Sunday, Sept. 16 at Fort Taber, 1000 Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford. Check in for the pledge event begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a kickoff at 9:30 a.m. The 3.5-mile walk is open to individuals and teams and will feature live music along the route. Participants will receive walkathon t-shirts, breakfast and lunch. This event will be held rain or shine.

CHARITY RUN TO BENEFIT DECUBELLIS FOUNDATION

The Blue Knights will hold their sixth annual charity motorcycle run to benefit the Katie DeCubellis Memorial Foundation on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Coventry Mason Hall, 585 Washington St., Coventry. Registration and event check in will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. and the ride will begin at 11 a.m. Participants are invited to a cookout at the hall following the run. The rain date for this event will be Sunday, Aug. 26. Cost: $20 riders, $10 passengers. This event is open to the public. NORTH KINGSTOWN 5K

Kent Hospital will host the 13th NK5K run/walk Saturday, Sept. 8 at North Kingstown Senior High School, 150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown. Children’s races of varying distances will be held at 8 a.m. and the 5K begins at 10 a.m. Participants may enter as individuals or teams. All adult participants will receive t-shirts, and the first 500 to register will receive technical t-shirts. Awards will be presented to the top three men and women finishers, as well as teams meeting other criteria. A portion of funds raised will also benefit North Kingstown’s high school sports programs and extracurricular activities. Online registration is available through Wednesday, Sept. 5. HOME & HOSPICE ANNUAL REGATTA

Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island International Sailing Association will host a regatta Saturday, Sept. 15 on the waterfront of the Herreshoff Marine Museum, 1 Burnside St., Bristol. Boats will set sail at 11 a.m. and round Prudence, Patience and Hog islands in a pursuit race. Following the race, an authentic New England clambake and awards presentation will be held. Registration: $100 per boat, includes one dinner ticket. Additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $35 each, or $50 after entry submission. TIVERTON LIBRARY FUNDRAISER

Dancing Spirit Studio will host a dance fundraiser to benefit the new Tiverton library Saturday, Aug. 18 at the studio, 1759 Main Road, Tiverton. Those interested are invited to learn two group veil dances featuring Egyptian and Turkish folk step. Participants will also share their favorite books. Sessions will be held at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 pm. and 2:15 p.m. A lecture on belly dance origins and a dance demonstration will be held at 4:30 p.m. Classes are open to women of all ages and dance levels. No experience is necessary. Comfortable clothing is recommended. Suggested donation: $10.
