WASTE FOR WARMTH

Arctic Mission will hold electronic waste and paper shredding events Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at two Cardi’s Furniture locations, 1681 Quaker Lane, West Warwick and 999 Newport Ave., South Attleboro. The public can dispose of items such as batteries, televisions, window-unit air conditioners, computers, servers, keyboards, spare computer parts, monitors, routers, radios, cables, wires and more for a donation to benefit Arctic Mission’s heating assistance program. Cost: $5 per electronic waste item, 45 cents per pound of shredding, 25 cents per household battery and $2 per back-up battery. RALLY FOR RECOVERY

The Rhode Island Recovery Month Coalition and the Rhode Island Dept. of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals will host the 10th annual Rhode Island Rally for Recovery from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Roger Williams National Memorial, 272 North Main St., Providence. The rally will bring together members of the recovery community, including those in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, mental illness and individuals with developmental disabilities, to raise awareness. The family-friendly event includes live music and food. Guest speakers include Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rep. James Langevin and others. SAVE THE BAY BEACH SLAM

Save The Bay will host its second annual Beach Slam Sunday, Sept. 16 from noon to 5 p.m. at Tillinghast Farm, 231 Nayatt Road, Barrington. The family event features free beach activities, including rock climbing, canoeing and beach seining. There will also be arts and crafts, live entertainment and a variety of food vendors. Save The Bay will raffle off a sailboat and trailer to support its advocacy and educational programs. Raffle tickets are $125 each or two for $200. This event is free and open to the public. PROVIDENCE ROTARY PAINT OFF

The Providence Rotary will host a paint off Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Providence Art Club, 11 Thomas St., Providence. Attendees will bid on paintings that were created within two hours on the same day. The event will include food and a cash bar. Proceeds benefit Providence Rotary Charities Foundation for children and the arts in Providence. Tickets: $35 in advance, $45 at the door. AIDS WALK FOR LIFE

The 27th annual AIDS Walk for Life will be held Sunday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. on the Rhode Island State House lawn, 82 Smith St., Providence. Walkers will follow a 2.5-mile route that begins and ends on the state house lawn. The event includes live entertainment, food and beverages from local restaurants and chair massages from Healing Hands Massage Therapy. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m. Proceeds will benefit AIDS Project RI.
