If a nonprofit wants an upcoming fundraiser to be considered for a calendar listing, email information to at least four weeks in advance of the event.


Special Olympics Rhode Island will host its 2013 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence. Athletes, individuals, families and business leaders who embody the spirit of Special Olympics will be honored during this event and inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame. Children’s Wishes will hold a “Love Me Do” dinner dance and show from 6 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, at The Mishnock Barn, 200 Mishnock Road, West Greenwich. Attendees will celebrate Valentine’s Day with dinner, dessert, dancing and more. The first 100 women to arrive will receive a free chocolate rose. Live music will be performed by the bands Medicinal Purpose and Jesse & Jack Gauthier. Dinner will be provided by Meal Works Catering. Proceeds will benefit Children’s Wishes. Tickets: $20. Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island will host a family day event that includes a Providence Bruins game on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, 1 La Salle Square, Providence. Starting at 1 p.m., festivities will include a youth hockey game, a buffet lunch, a silent auction, raffle drawings and game refreshments. The Bruins will then take on the Worcester Sharks at 3 p.m. Tickets: $20 per person. Proceeds will benefit Camp BraveHeart, Home & Hospice’s children’s bereavement camp. Seamen’s Church Institute of Newport will present its ninth annual community winter concert from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17 in the atrium of the Newport Marriott Hotel, 25 America’s Cup Ave., Newport. Under the direction of Robert Franzblau, The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble will perform “Sacred and Profane,” which includes the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Carl Orff and other composers. Alan Harvey, a saxophone player, will be featured as a soloist during the performance. This event is free and open to the public. Voluntary donations will be accepted. The Ocean House will host a Black and White Masquerade fundraiser to raise money for Misquamicut Beach recovery efforts on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Ocean House, 1 Bluff Ave., Westerly. The event will channel Truman Capote’s 1966 black and white masquerade party and benefit Bring Back the Beach, a Greater Westerly-Pawcatcuck Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Attendees should wear black and/or white cocktail attire and a creative mask. The evening includes live and silent auctions, an open bar and food stations, plus live music.
