Special Olympics Rhode Island will host its 2013 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence. Athletes, individuals, families and business leaders who embody the spirit of Special Olympics will be honored during this event and inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame. Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island will host a family day event that includes a Providence Bruins game on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, 1 La Salle Square, Providence. Under the direction of Robert Franzblau, The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble will perform “Sacred and Profane,” which includes the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Carl Orff and other composers. The Ocean House will host a Black and White Masquerade fundraiser to raise money for Misquamicut Beach recovery efforts on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Ocean House, 1 Bluff Ave., Westerly. The event will channel Truman Capote’s 1966 black and white masquerade party and benefit Bring Back the Beach, a Greater Westerly-Pawcatcuck Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Attendees should wear black and/or white cocktail attire and a creative mask. The evening includes live and silent auctions, an open bar and food stations, plus live music.
