YOUTH BASEBALL DONATION PROGRAM

In conjunction with the Red Sox Foundation, Jordan’s Furniture will collect new and like-new baseball equipment to benefit inner-city youth through Monday, April 8. Desired items include metal bats, catcher’s equipment, helmets, gloves, metal and plastic cleats, new baseballs and new softballs. Donations will be accepted at the company’s store at 400 Bald Hill Road, Warwick and at its distribution center at 450 Revolutionary Drive, East Taunton. Schools and organizations are invited to participate. The entity responsible for donating the largest number of usable items will receive four tickets to a Boston Red Sox game, a $1,500 gift card to Jordan’s Furniture and more. RED, WHITE & BREW EVENT

Easter Seals RI will host its auction and wine and beer pairings event, Red White and Brew, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at The Haversham, 366 Post Road, Westerly. The event will benefit children and young adults with disabilities who participate in Easter Seals RI programs and services. Guests will sample food, fine wines and microbrews provided by area businesses and can bid on items featured in live and silent auctions. Entertainment will be provided by saxophone player Matty B. GO RED LUNCHEON

The American Heart Association will hold its Southern New England Go Red for Women Luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence. This event focuses on raising awareness of heart disease in women and raising funds for the cause. During the event, there will be a CPR workshop, health screenings, exhibitors and a heart-healthy luncheon. Audrey McClelland, an author, fashion blogger and founder of Mom Generations, will serve as keynote speaker. Tickets: $150. AUCTION TO FUND LAW SCHOLARSHIPS

Roger Williams University School of Law will host its 2013 Public Interest Law Auction from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, in the Grand Ballroom of the Biltmore Hotel, 11 Dorrance St., Providence. Proceeds will benefit the Public Interest Summer Stipend Program that enables the university’s law students to work unpaid summer legal internships, serving under-represented populations in Rhode Island and beyond. POLAR BEAR PLUNGE

United Way of Rhode Island Young Leaders Circle will hold its third annual Polar Bear Plunge at noon on Sunday, Feb. 24 at Easton’s First Beach, 175 Memorial Blvd., Newport. Participants will collect donations and then take a dip in the ocean. All plungers will receive a T-shirt and those who raise a minimum of $100 will also receive a beach towel or blanket. A complimentary pre-plunge breakfast will be held for those who make a minimum gift of $15 from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Tickets Bar & Grille, 15 Aquidneck Ave., Middletown. Guests 12 and younger dine free. Those interested in attending should email youngleaders@uwri.org. All donations will go to United-Way funded programs that serve East Bay residents in need.
