South County Habitat for Humanity will holds it annual Pound the Pavement, Pound a Nail walkathon at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, on the University of Rhode Island’s quadrangle, Upper College Road, South Kingstown. Participants will walk 3 kilometers in support of Habit’s Old North Village, located on the edge of URI’s campus. Following the walk, Alex and Ani will host a free concert by Colour of London. PUBLIC RADIO BENEFIT
Rhode Island Public Radio will host a spring benefit, Made in Rhode Island, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at The Met, Hope Artiste Village, 1005 Main St., Pawtucket. Tamara Keith, National Public Radio congressional correspondent will be in attendance. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the station’s reporters, eat local food, and enter raffles. Raffles prizes include a trip for two to Austin to see Ira Glass live, a trip to Chicago to see “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” live, or a helicopter tour of Rhode Island lighthouses, and other items. CLEAN DAY ON THE GREENWAY
The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council will hold a two-session cleanup along the Greenway bike path in Providence from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and in Johnston from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. Volunteers will assist in projects including tire pulls, in-water cleanups, mulching and pruning trees, painting signs, litter pickup, fence building and more. Volunteers will receive free t-shirts, lunch, snacks, water, and have access to waders, tools, gloves and canoes. Preregistration is required for this event.
