RUMBLE DOWN THE RHODE
The Rhode Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold a 55-mile motorcycle fundraiser run at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 2. The run will start and end at Town Hall Lanes, 1463 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Riders will travel through Northwestern Rhode Island and into Connecticut before returning to the bowling alley. Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and the ride starts at 11 a.m. All types of motorcycles are welcome to participate. Those who do not have motorcycles can stop by to make a donation or participate in a raffle to be held at 1 p.m. Cost: $25 one rider, $35 for two riders. JIMMY FUND SEEKS VOLUNTEERS
The Jimmy Fund is seeking volunteers to help raise money for cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston between Friday, June 7 and Thursday, July 25. Volunteers are needed to pass canisters around at movie theaters after a trailer for the Jimmy Fund runs during previews at theaters in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The trailers will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at independent movie theaters and participating National Amusements theaters. Volunteers will receive T-shirts and possible other gifts, such as movie tickets, bags or Red Sox tickets. LEUKEMIA CUP REGATTA
The Rhode Island Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will hold its 2013 Leukemia Cup Regatta on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 at The New York Yacht Club, 5 Halidon Ave., Newport. The regatta is a series of sailing events that combine the joy of sailing with the important goal of raising money to fight leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. Festivities begin Friday with An Evening at Harbour Court, an event with live and silent auctions, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets: $60. Saturday, sailing races will begin at noon, followed by an awards ceremony and barbecue at 6 p.m. Cost: $40. BLACKSTONE VALLEY GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council will host the Blackstone Valley Heritage Golf Tournament at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10, at Crystal Lake Golf Course, 100 Bronco Highway, Burrillville. The 18-hole, scramble-style tournament begins with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a shot-gun start at 1 p.m. There will be a dinner, silent auction and awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Cost: $125 per person. ESOPHEGEAL CANCER WALK/RUN
The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation will holds its second annual Esophageal Cancer Walk/Run at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, at Warwick City Park, Asylum Road, Warwick. Participants will walk or run to raise awareness and support for esophageal cancer. Cost: $20 in advance, $25 day of. Children 12 and younger can participate for free. Dogs are welcome.
