CVS CAREMARK DOWNTOWN 5K RACE
On Sunday, CVS Caremark will host its annual 5K race and events for all ages beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 near the Rhode Island Statehouse in Providence. The day will feature youth and adult races along with inspirational events peppered with musical entertainment along the race course. Athletic activities include; the “All Kids Can” inspirational event for children of all abilities, the Tufts Health Plan High School Inspirational 3K which features a popular costume contest and the main 5K race which attracts Olympians and professional athletes seeking the coveted title of a National 5K champion. Proceeds from the annual race event are donated to local youth charities in Rhode Island and Southern New England. FALL GALA
The Samaritans of Rhode Island will host their annual fall gala from 7 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Metacomet Country Club, 500 Veterans Memorial Parkway, East Providence. The event will feature food, music and dancing to blues, rock, R&B, jazz, soul and American standards musicians Unclaimed Freight with vocalist Meredith Hampton. Cost: $45 per person. WALK/RUN FUNDRAISER
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will host its sixth annual walk/run fundraiser beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Colt State Park, Route 114, Bristol. This three-mile walk offers scenic, shoreline views for all participants. Runners will face a five-mile, USATF-certified run on a fast and fairly flat course. A family fun festival with a rock climbing wall, face painting, pumpkin painting, chowder, hot dogs and baked goods will provide a warm welcome for participants retuning from the walk and run, supporters of the event, and their families. The event is wheelchair accessible and dogs on leashes are welcome. Check-in and registration begins at 9 a.m. Race begins at 11 a.m. Cost to register: $20 through Tuesday, Sept. 24; $25 after. WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S
The Alzheimer’s Association – Rhode Island Chapter will host a fundraising walk with registration beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at Slater Park, Dagget Farm, Pawtucket. The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” is a movement to reclaim the future for millions dealing with Alzheimer’s disease. At the finish of this three-mile walk or run through Slater Park a variety of family-friendly events await including: music, pizza, kid’s games, prizes, and more. Nurse Home Care Fundraiser
Visiting Nurse Home Care will hold its annual fundraising event, “There’s No Place Like Home,” from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 4 at the Crowne Plaza, 801 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. The event will feature a live and silent auction, music and dancing. All proceeds will support the agency’s mission to provide the community with vital health care services and help ensure that VNHC remains a leading innovator in the delivery of services that meet the changing needs of its patients while keeping them home. YEAR UP FUNDRAISING BASH
Year Up will host their annual “Providence Party,” from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at GTECH’s World Headquarters, 10 Memorial Blvd., Providence. The party will feature food, music from Year Up’s own DJ Biz Com, rooftop ping-pong, cocktails and auction. Proceeds will support Year Up’s intensive training program that provides low-income young adults with a combination of hands-on skill development, college credits, and corporate internships.
