ARMORY GALA
The West Broadway Neighborhood Association will host its 30th anniversary gala from 7 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Cranston Street Armory, 118 Parade St., Providence. The event will feature an art exhibit and silent auction of local artists’ work include those of Mark Freedman, Nancy Hart and Frank Mullin. A penny social raffle will offer prizes from local merchants. Food and cash bar will be available, along with music and dancing. Cost: $35 per person. ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Extraordinary Child, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit for children with special needs, will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the First Assembly of God, 420 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, pastry, coffee and more. Cost: adults $6; children 12 and under: $4. All proceeds to benefit our indoor play/support facility for children with special needs and their families. BRIGHTER FUTURES AWARD LUNCHEON
Family Service of Rhode Island will host an award luncheon at noon on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence. The event will honor this year’s recipient of the Brighter Futures Award, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and support Rhode Islanders in crisis and need. Cost: $125 per person. PROGRESO LATINO GALA CELEBRATION
Progreso Latino will host its 36th annual gala celebration from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Nov. 1 at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet, One Rhodes Place, Cranston. The event will focus on education, with a focus on the early years and feature keynote speaker Tony Maione, CEO of United Way of Rhode Island with co-hosts Gene Valicenti, WPRO Morning News host and anchor and

GAMING CHARITY EVENT
Extra Life by Rhode Island, a collaboration of gamers seeking to save children’s lives, will host a fundraising event on Nov. 2. During “Extra Life 2013” Rhode Island gamers will participate in a 24-hour marathon of gaming (includes any game on any platform from any location) to fund equipment, programs and research at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Cost: registration is free or participants can upgrade to a $15 platinum option to become eligible for prizes like an official 2013 Extra Life T-shirt. ROAST & TOAST FOR MENTORING
Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership will host a fundraising event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 at The West Valley Inn, 4 Blossom St., West Warwick.
