DOG ADOPTION DAY
Always Adopt is pleased will host its third “Super Dog Adoption Day” event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Clark Farms, 2984 Commodore Perry Highway, Route 1, Matunuck. During the event, dogs will be on a leash or in open-fenced play areas to observe how a family interacts with a particular rescued dog. Always Adopt is a not-for-profit organization that brings together community leaders and volunteers to host super-sized dog adoption events while providing rescue groups and shelters a forum in which to showcase their dogs. Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the website to see all the dogs and puppies available for adoption and fill out the common application if they are interested in adopting a dog at the event. BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT OUT
The Providence Children’s Film Festival will host its first-ever fundraising event from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at Cable Car Cinema, 204 S Main St., Providence. The event will feature food, drink, favorite shorts from past festivals, a sneak peek at some upcoming films, a live auction and a full-length feature classic film. This is an adult-only event. All proceeds will benefit the Providence Children’s Film Festival, which brings high quality films for children and youth from around the world to Rhode Island. Cost: $75 per person; $125 per couple. HOPE FOR THE HOMELESS
The Rhode Island Dream Center will host its seventh annual “Hope for the Homeless” gathering from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Praise Tabernacle Church, 330 Park Ave., Cranston. The event, which honors National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, will feature exhibit tables for many of Rhode Island’s direct providers for homeless services. This event aims to connect organizations who offer services to people in need. Providence Mayor Angel Taveras will be in attendance. Guests can meet the center’s board of directors and outreach program leaders and see performances from musical guest Lift Ministries. Food and refreshments will be offered. Free. TUNE IN & TUNE UP UNITY CONCERT
The Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame in partnership with The Ocean Mist will host a two-day concert event on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 10 at The Ocean Mist, 895 Matunuck Beach Road, Wakefield. The event will feature performances by Rhode Island musicians along with four inductees to the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame on the same stage for the first time: John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Roomful of Blues, Ken Lyon, and Steve Smith & the Nakeds. All proceeds will benefit the Tune In & Tune Up R.I. Musicians Health Awareness Program. Concert hours are 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. to midnight on Sunday. NO KID HUNGRY
Share Our Strength will host a benefit dinner beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 at Gracie’s, 194 Washington St., Providence. The event will feature a multi-course dinner prepared by celebrated chefs including Gracie’s own Executive Chef Matthew Varga and Pastry Chef Melissa Denmark, along with event chair and President of Johnson and Wales University Mim L. Runey. The theme for the dinner will focus on seasonal root vegetables and will offer five courses paired with wines by Jonathan Edwards Winery. Proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hunger. RSVP required, space limited. BOWL-A-THON
Special Olympics Rhode Island will host “Rock and Bowl” beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Lang’s Bowl-a-Rama, 225 Niantic Ave., Cranston. The event is open to all police and fire departments, local businesses, Special Olympics’ athletes, families and volunteers. Registration begins at 12 p.m.; bowling begins at 1 p.m. Cost: $30 per person; $10 for Special Olympics Rhode Island athletes and children under 12.
