Special Olympics Rhode Island will host a Hall of Fame Awards ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, One Sabin St., Providence. The event will honor athletes, individuals, families and business leaders whose support embodies the spirit of the Special Olympics and whose efforts make a significant impact on the program as well as the lives of the athletes it serves. The evening will begin with a reception, followed by dinner and awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Cost: $60 per person; $30 for SORI athletes (includes reception and dinner). The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Rhode Island will host its winter conference and annual meeting from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum, 101 Ferry Road, Bristol. During the event, NOFA members will share information about the organization’s history and discuss organic farming, gardening and landscaping today. The event will include a potluck meal and breakout session on organic specialties. Bring a potluck item to share. Open to the public. Visitors may tour the grounds and first floor of Blithewold’s historic mansion during the event. Registration encouraged, but not required. Cost: $25 to $50 per person. Camp Sunshine will host its Rhode Island Polar Dip at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Oakland Beach, Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick. During the event, participants will plunge into Greenwich Bay to raise money for families to attend Camp Sunshine, a retreat in Casco, Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses. Plungers are encouraged to create a plunge team of four or more people. Each participant who raises at least $100 in pledges for Camp Sunshine will receive a t-shirt. The American Heart Association will host a fundraising luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, One Sabin St., Providence. The event will feature a silent auction, cooking demos, health screenings, educational exhibitors and a heart-healthy luncheon. Jill Andy, senior vice president of Human Resources at Amica Insurance will chair the event. Keynote Speaker, Dr. Nieca Goldberg, medical director of the New York University Langone Joan H. Tisch Center for Women’s Health and one of the founding members of Go Red For Women, will discuss the future of women’s health care. Guests are encouraged to wear red. Cost: $150 per perosn. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Warwick will host a fundraising dinner at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 at Kelley Gazzero Post, 1418 Plainfield Pike, Cranston. During the event, a family-style meal of venison, wild boar, rabbit, and more will be served. Raffle prizes will be awarded. Proceeds of the event will support the programs and staff of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Warwick. Cost: $30 per person.
