The city of Providence and Hotel Providence will host a winter barbecue to celebrate the city’s “Eighth Coziest City in America” designation by Travel + Leisure Magazine from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 in the outdoor seasonal courtyard at Aspire Seasonal Kitchen, 311 Westminster St., Providence. During the event, Aspire’s courtyard will be adorned with couches, fire pits, heaters, blankets and a kettle drum performer. Hot chocolate and a BBQ lunch will be served. Cost: $5 per person. TORCH RUN PLUNGE
Special Olympics Rhode Island will host the Torch Run Plunge beginning at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 at Goddard Memorial State Park, 1095 Ives Road, Warwick. A post plunge party at The Carousel at Goddard Park with food from Eddie's BBQ and music by Exceptional Wedding DJs will be held. Individual and team costumes are encouraged.
