Bank Rhode Island will host a book drive during the month of April in support of Books Are Wings in each of their 18 branch locations. Throughout April, members of the community may visit any Bank Rhode Island branch to donate new and gently-used children’s books. The drive will support children’s literacy and learning. AS220 Media Arts will host the 20th birthday and fundraiser for The Paul Krot Community Darkroom from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday, April 4 at Aurora Providence, 276 Westminter St., Providence. The event will include local Caribbean music virtuoso Jesus Andujar on stage, a live photo booth, pin?ata, cake, and a dance party led by DJ God Body and DJ Kodak. The event will also feature an exhibit of photographs by Miguel Rosario and Hua?scar Robles, which will run the whole month of April at Aurora Providence. Cost: sliding scale of $10 to $30. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Marketing Research will host its 14th Annual Celebrity Scholarship Dinner at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at Venus de Milo Restaurant, 75 Grand Army of the Republic Highway, Swansea, Mass. Guests of the event will have the chance to meet Ray Bourque, the longest serving Captain of the Boston Bruins and can participate in a special raffle and silent auction. Cost: $90 per person. Heels to Heal Rhode Island is hosting a fundraising dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the The German Club, 78 Carter Ave., Pawtucket. The event will be held in memory of Brooke Hughes Verdoia and in honor of all victims who have lost their lives to domestic violence. NBC 10 news reporter Cierra Putman will emcee the event, which will include food, music, raffles, a silent auction and guest speakers. Event attendees will hear from Rhode Island General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo and Assistant Attorney General Stacey Veroni, as well as from domestic violence survivors. Raffle and auction items will feature New England sports teams, local restaurants and hotels and family activities. Proceeds will benefit the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center. Cost: $25 per person. The Autism Project will host “The Imagine Walk & Family Fun Day for Autism” beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Goddard Memorial State Park, 1095 Ives Road, Warwick. The event features a variety of free activities, including bounce houses, pony rides, a reptile show, arts, crafts, and face painting. The Junior League of Rhode Island Inc. will host the “Inns of Distinction” brunch and tour beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 at One Eighty Restaurant, 8 Broadway, Newport. The event will feature brunch followed by a self-guided tour of inns and boutique hotels in Newport. Participants will check-in at the restaurant and will be provided with a program book to use as a guide. Homemade refreshments, raffle and door prizes will be offered. Brunch begins at 11 a.m. Tour begins at 1 p.m. Tour tickets and brunch tickets can be purchased a la carte.
