Phone fixes on the fly

(Updated Feb. 25 to reflect full ownership)
The calamities that befall smartphones and tablet computers have made for an interesting business in fixing all that ails them.

The Mobile Fix, which opened in December at 1638 Warwick Ave. in Warwick, specializes in repair of cellphones and tablets. Most of the business is in replacement of broken phone screens, according to co-owner Gregory Barbon, but the trained technicians at the business also can diagnose and repair more elaborate problems.

He recently repaired an iPhone that was dropped into a chemical, portable toilet.

When a cellphone is inoperable, customers can be distraught.

“It’s not like breaking a vacuum cleaner. I’ve had people come in in tears, they’re panicking because they cannot function without their phones,” he said.

The Mobile Fix recently started a mobile service, dispatching a technician to work sites, people’s homes and coffee shops.

Three additional owners of the business are Bruce Boyarsky, Dave Sarazen and Harris Alkins.
