PRANZI CATERING & EVENTS, based out of the Silver Lake neighborhood in Providence, increased revenue 58 percent in the past year. The company, originally founded in 1997 by Lisa Marie Mattiello, provides catering, event planning and rentals for events.

Her husband, Nick Mattiello, vice president and general manager, came onboard 11 years ago. He attributes the increase in sales in part to the company’s great service.

“People will pay if we explain what they’re paying for. I think it’s our level of service.”

The company also has grown in terms of its physical footprint. Pranzi opened its new building in April 2013, in Silver Lake, measuring nearly 32,000 square feet.

Nick Mattiello notes that the 58 percent increase has brought challenges as well. “It almost created a burden. That’s a big number for a business to grow. We’re changing everything,” he said.

Pranzi’s kitchen, office and warehouse staff numbers have doubled.

“At the end of the year, you see an increase … and you say to yourself, ‘Somebody did their job. Somebody did well,’ ” Nick Mattiello said. “That’s my personal satisfaction – when I run these reports and I see the business growing.”

A few spinoffs are in the company’s future. Lisa Marie Mattiello ultimately wants to keep Pranzi Catering & Events a family business “for at least one more generation.” •
