PROVIDENCE – Premama said it has grown to 7,700 retail distribution points from 1,100 since April 2015, and also experienced a 360 percent surge in sales year over year in August.
Premama, in a news release this week, described its retail expansion as “record.”
The company, which makes a line of natural powdered drink mixes and soft chews to support maternity wellness from preconception through pregnancy and beyond, said it is fueling the emerging maternity wellness category.
“Premama has seized the opportunity to develop a targeted range of prenatal vitamin, fertility and lactation supplements with a pill-free delivery mechanism, and make them accessible across mainstream retail channels. Our approach is game-changing for today’s generation of expecting and new moms,” Dan Aziz, founder and president, Premama, said in a statement.
Premama entered the market four years ago. It said it “is cornering the market at an ideal time where wellness products have become mainstream and the ‘bump’ industry is exploding.”
The company cited New Hope Network, a digital marketplace focusing on the healthy lifestyle industry, which said that maternity wellness sales growth is outpacing the supplement market, growing 7.2 percent over the last year. In addition to specialty stores and chains such as The Vitamin Shoppe and GNC, Premama is available in pharmacies, natural grocers and retailers such as CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Meijer and Sprouts.
Premama Fertility recently was chosen by a team of editors and trend researchers as the 2016 NEXTY Awards’ “Best New Supplement Delivery Format” winner.
