Pro-Change forms partnership with GetWellNetwork

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – GetWellNetwork Inc. has entered into a partnership with Pro-Change Behavior Systems Inc. as an extension of its GetWell Labs research and development initative for hospital patients and their families.
GetWellNetwork, based in Maryland, plans to incorporate Pro-Change’s Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change programs into its Interactive Patient Care Pathways, which are delivered to patients through an iPad, mobile device or bedside television.
The Pathways engage patients, so they can learn about their condition and manage their health.
Using ProChange’s methods, IPC Pathways can now be customized to target and deliver patient-specific care plan interventions, a joint press release from the companies stated.
Janice M. Prochaska, president and CEO of Pro-Change, an internationally recognized behavior change company, said the partnership is in the development stage right now.
She said this is her company’s first time working with a company that primarily serves hospital patients. Usually, Pro-Change partners with wellness companies and institutions to produce programs designed to reduce risky behaviors while enhancing well-being, lowering health care costs and increasing productivity.
She explained that GetWellNetwork’s primary business is to provide accurate and “in plain language” medical information to patients about their conditions. She said the goal is to keep patients from returning to hospitals once they are discharged, and that’s how Pro-Change’s health behavior change programs will help.
Kerry E. Evers, senior vice president of research and product development at Pro-Change, said, “Together, we can engage and empower patients and families in the behavior change process, improve outcomes and transform the patient experience.”
Said GetWellNetwork’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, David Bennett, “When we founded GetWell Labs, we promised to bring the future faster to engage patients and families in new ways. This partnership will enable our client community to build on the outcomes they are already achieving by delivering more effective care and empowering every patient.”
