PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Science and Technology Advisory Council is calling for proposals for its 2016 collaborative research grants.

Letters of intent are due Sept. 23 and can be sent to riresearchalliance@commerceri.com, with proposals due Oct. 21.

The collaborative research grant program is in support of STAC’s partnership with the National Science Foundation’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research.

Funded projects will support research related to assessing and understanding global climate change impacts and environmental stressors on watersheds, coastal and marine environments.

Approximately $800,000 in competitive funding will be offered to support proposals that address those themes.

STAC is seeking proposals that also will lead to major new research opportunities that can be supported by federal agencies, corporations and/or foundations; contribute toward current or future economic development of the state through technology development and commercialization, and contribute to infrastructure development advancing the competitiveness of scientists in Rhode Island to secure additional funding.
