EAST GREENWICH – Provant Health Solutions Inc. said this week it has entered into a licensing agreement with activewear brand Under Armour to offer clients and their members the app MapMyFitness API.

MapMyFitness API, with more than 35 million users, integrates social digital experiences with 170 fitness-tracking and wearable devices.

Provant delivers customized worksite health and wellness strategies and services, touching more than 6 million lives. Provant said that joining forces with Under Armour will allow the company to provide individuals with the MapMyFitness API to connect personal fitness devices and the MapMy apps with its well-being web portal.
“Through the partnership with Under Armour’s MapMyFitness API, we are delighted to offer people a simple solution for tracking physical activities for personal well-being and incentive purposes,” Heather Provino, CEO of Provant, said in a statement. “The concept of ‘bring your own device or app,’ or ‘BYOD/A,’ has been of increasing interest to our clients’ members. Providing users with the ability to incorporate their preferred personal fitness tracking apps and wearable devices into our programming and challenges is a natural fit with our company’s emphasis on providing individualized experiences.”
Fitness wearables are used to improve health and translate daily activities, exercise and sleep quality into graphs that demonstrate progress in achieving goals. Using the MapMyFitness API, client members can leverage their smartphone GPS to track fitness activities and record workout details, including duration, distance, pace, speed, elevation and calories burned, Provant said.
