PROVIDENCE – Provdotnet LLC, a provider of data-center solutions, has expanded its services to greater Chicago.
Ronald Sacks, CEO and managing partner of Provdotnet, said the Chicago area is a “highly sought-after area for the East Coast,” as local companies seek to have their disaster recovery and secondary sites outside of the New York and New England area. Multi-tenant data center services will be offered there.
He said firms are always planning for storms, blizzards, nor’easters and hurricanes, and want the disaster recovery and secondary sites to be at least 250 miles away from their facilities so that they will be unaffected by such things as power outages.
After considering several sites around the country, Sacks said he thought the Chicago area and the facility the company chose would be ideal for its customers.
The team under contract in Chicago has more than 60 years of data center operating experience, he reported. The facility is 80,000 square feet, according to information from Provdotnet.
The Chicago site marks the company’s fourth, according to Sacks. It has three other sites in Providence, where the company has more than 15,000 square feet, and 1.25 megawatts of power that can house up to 200 full data cabinets and associated computing equipment. Provdotnet employs five in Providence, Sacks said.
