Providence College, CCRI announce transfer pact

PROVIDENCE – Providence College and the Community College of Rhode Island announced last week they have agreed on a new transfer policy that grants CCRI students conditional acceptance into Providence College’s School of Continuing Education. The policy also includes “a significant tuition discount” for eligible CCRI graduates who choose to attend PC, the institutions said in a joint statement.
The Guaranteed Admission & Tuition Agreement stipulates that CCRI students must sign up for the agreement before accumulating 30 credits. Students must also enroll in a major for which an articulation agreement is in place between Providence College’s School of Continuing Education and CCRI.
To remain eligible, students must consult with the appropriate CCRI and Providence College advisers on course selection each semester. Students must complete the CCRI associate degree and fulfill all terms and conditions of the articulation agreement at CCRI. They must graduate from CCRI with a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and they must transfer to the School of Continuing Education within two semesters of graduating from CCRI.
A student fulfilling these requirements will be eligible for a 33 percent reduction in undergraduate tuition at the School of Continuing Education. While enrolled at the school, they must earn and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA or higher and earn a minimum of 12 credits per academic year in order to remain eligible for the tuition discount. The tuition reduction will expire five years from the date of the student’s initial enrollment at Providence College. •
