PROVIDENCE – The Providence Flea LLC, an open-air market of vintage goods, furniture and food, will expand its season and move this fall to a vacant parcel on the former Interstate 195 lands.
The market will move to the lot at the corner of Friendship and Chestnut streets in the Jewelry District, and run from Sept. 18 through Oct. 30. The market is open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
The flea, now in its fourth year, attracts about 50 to 55 vendors each Sunday, according to its founder, Maria Tocco. The plan had always been to extend the season past the summer, but its existing site, a vacant I-195 parcel off South Water Street, had restrictions in the fall due to outdoor events and road races that have prompted road closures, she said.
This fall, the market will feature the vendors, who sell antiques, furniture, clothing, decorative items, art and accessories, as well as a Brunch Bar hosted by Little Bitte Cocktails, makers of artisan cocktails.
The site has free parking along the streets in the area and is accessible by public transportation.
The Providence Flea is accepting vendor applications on its web site, at www.providenceflea.com.
