Providence ranks No. 23 for employee satisfaction

SAUSILITO, Calif. – The Providence metropolitan area ranked No. 23 in the United States for job satisfaction on career review website Glassdoor.com’s employment satisfaction report card.

While overall satisfaction scores were awarded out of a possible five points, Glassdoor also included a compensation and benefits satisfaction rating and a senior management satisfaction rating.

Providence’s overall satisfaction was 3.2, while compensation and benefits satisfaction earned a score of 3.1 and senior management satisfaction earned a score of 2.9.

According to Glassdoor’s report card, 1,669 employers are currently hiring in the Providence metro area.

San Jose, Calif., which earned the No. 1 spot on the list, had an overall satisfaction score of 3.4, a compensation and benefits satisfaction score of 3.4 and a senior management rating of 3.

Of the 50 largest metro areas in the U.S., Denver, Colo. Rated worst on the Glassdoor report card, with an overall score of 3, a benefits score of 3.1 and a management score of 2.7.

Fellow New England metro areas Boston and Hartford also made the list, ranking above Providence. Boston came in at No. 8 with an overall score of 3.3 and Hartford came in at No. 22 with an overall satisfaction score of 3.2.

The report card is based on metro-area population and at least 500 reviews per metro shared on Glassdoor by local employees during the past 12 months.
